| Many of us have mental images of classic vintage advertising and poster images ingrained in our brains from our college Design History classes. From the early food and beverage images, exotic travel posters, and murals and poster work done for the Works Progress Administration in the 1930’s to the Blue Note record covers done in the 50’s and 60’s, many of these images were created before there even was such a thing as a graphic design profession. However, their strength of simplicity and concept, coupled with artistic talent and sometimes great visual humor, still hold up today when most of us have more than a few too many pixels to push around but not enough time to do anything with them. Follow this link to my blog where I have some of my all-time favorites posted… maybe there's even some you didn’t see in Design History 101! Enjoy!

| Hey Jon, I just LOVE the posters you've gathered and displayed on your blog. They truly are inspirational, aren't they?! Thank you for making these available for us to see and to refer to when we're buried knee deep in pixels, and need to be reminded about how wonderful "simple" can be. Please keep 'em coming. - Kristy |

| Thanks Kristy... glad you enjoyed them. It is amazing how such great work was done at what was basically just the beginnings of the graphic design profession as we know it today. They set the bar pretty high right from the start. No computers, internet, technology of any kind compared to today... just great ideas and lots of talent! I'll try to get some more posted soon. - Jon |

| Thank you for assembling the vintage posters on your blog. In my work with classic/vintage autos & boats, I often refer to the designs of the past for inspiration (I like posters.com or art.com). Kudos to illustrators that are resurrecting these styles with either hand-drawn or digital techniques. My hubby/partner's photographic passion is vintage vehicles... www.vintageimage.biz |
