So, I am not sure of the value of a blog in my profession, but at least it amuses me. I had a great first quarter for work, but april is slow with a tone of tire kickers. I have successfully discouraged the wrong clients for me which is a success unto itself. I would rather clean toilets than work with a bad client. What is bad, a client that focuses on volume and not quality, one that shops you like you are an item on a wall mart sale rack, one that believes that their in only value in their professional art, one who lacks the art buying experience, but just enough to make them clumsy and rude. In May I am shooting on location for a month in CA and I am looking forward to the change of scene.

Went to NYC to show my work to Gourmet, Food and Wine, and Home mag last week. The response was great, I learned that more home improvement and do yourself pieces are popular because of the recession. More interesting work has come my way. The Jia Moderne project shooting Chinese antiques on location is very cool. The antiques are shipped over from China, some pieces at old as 12th century. Client was thrilled with the work and we will shoot again in April.

It is difficult to select images in a portfolio because, it's like playing pin the tail on the donkey, You know donkey is in front of you, but you might put the tale on the potential clients forehead. At times what I perceive as not very interesting, speaks directly a clients needs and vise-versa. So, my portfolio covers a decent range of work, including what is from my own head, and what was created to meet the needs of a client.
Every photoshoot as unique, it demands it's own mood, composition and perspective. I am not photographic one-trick pony, using only a hand full similar light patterns, or perspectives in every shot. What I hope to bring to clients table is that I possess a diverse set of skills that will shape the photography into exactly what the clients wants, thus Commercial Art.
