Many of us have mental images of classic vintage advertising and poster images ingrained in our brains from our college Design History classes. From the early food and beverage images, exotic travel posters, and murals and poster work done for the Works Progress Administration in the 1930’s to the Blue Note record covers done in the 50’s and 60’s, many of these images were created before there even was such a thing as a graphic design profession. However, their strength of simplicity and concept, coupled with artistic talent and sometimes great visual humor, still hold up today when most of us have more than a few too many pixels to push around but not enough time to do anything with them.
