We're happy to announce a new productivity feature for your business: Public .jam files.
Now you can get feedback and approvals from your clients very quickly. .jam files can now be created as public. This allows you to add users as guests who do not have to login and you can be receiving comments in minutes.
This feature was brought to you by comments from many of the advisors on the site...thanks.
Use it and let us know your client's experieince. |

I was very excited to hear about this new feature! Unfortunately, my experience has had a few glitches. 1) Tried to upload an MP4 video file of a rough animation for my client to review this afternoon (Thursday). Jamuse rejected it twice. Converted the file to WMV, and it uploaded fine. 2) Around 4:00 p.m., I sent my clients the email invitation, as described above. After about half an hour with no response, I tried to log back in. The site was down. It stayed down until I went home around 5:45. I don't know whether my clients tried to log in or not. If they did, this wasn't a very good first impression. 3) Logged back in around 10:00 p.m., and was pleased to see that the site was back up. Not so pleased to see that, since I had to make the jam file public to invite guests, my rough, work-in-progress clip is now part of my portfolio. 4) Since I hadn't received any "the link didn't work" emails from my client, I suspected that the emails from jamuse had gotten caught in their spam filter. I tried to invite myself, so that I could forward the email to them. I entered my email address in the "invite" box, was told by the site that I can not invite myself. Tried to copy and paste the body of the message, but the hyperlink didn't come through. Had to go back and click on "copy link" to get it. Not very convenient. Hopefully, my clients will be able to log in tomorrow morning. I'll post an update when I have more info. |

I've been testing every so often, inviting myself using 2 alternate email addresses. Unfortunately, I'm still not having luck with a project launching for a registered user from the invite email in either Firefox or Safari on the Mac. The project does launch by clicking on the guest link in the invite email, but not when one clicks on the "Registered users please click here" link. After login, registered users are taken to the main Museworx page. For whatever it's worth, my invite emails always arrive directly in my junk mail folder. I'll admit, I'm not overly versed in what makes it go there, but I'm hoping it's not something inherent in those emails. One of my fears is that they will all get hung up in my client's spam filter when I try it out on them. Hopefully, it's just my overly sensitive junk mail filter. |

...One more thing. I've just noticed that when using Safari, in Museworx, just reviewing my own projects, I can not launch any of them. Clicking the launch button yields nothing. I can launch in Firefox, though.

Things are looking up ... Two of the folks at my client's agency were able to view and use the jam file. They both liked the interface as well.

One note though ... I did not receive any notification when they viewed it and added comments. I thought we were supposed to get email notifications? And, like Allan, all jamuse originated email is being flagged as spam by mail.app. |

| Some more feedback regarding video on jam files ... Tried to upload a 4 minute video tonight, and the "pending upload" bar sat at 100% for about an hour. The upload manager said that the file's status was successful, so I closed the window, logged back in, and tried to watch the file. It was very odd ... The audio was fine, but all the video was playing back at a slower frame rate, such that the length of the file was about 6 minutes. However, once the file played to its actual time (4:26), it froze. I tried uploading it again, and had exactly the same result. Conclusion? Jam files work great for 30-second commercials, but not so much for anything longer. |

Fox, We are looking at the file issue with videos. Should not be a limit on length. Have not seen the Spam trap issue. I assume your clients got the email? The email is set to come from you, direct to the recipient. If you can make it happen, you may want to change the default email when you send the invitation in case your Junk folder doesn't like some of the keywords in the email. As you notice, there are between 300 and 1200 people at any given time on the site. I hope your connection trouble wasn't due to too many people. We are adding more redundant servers this week to prepare for about double the anticipated invitations (all word of mouth invites)...no complaints though, keep using it and we'll keep ahead of the useage. Alan, Safari seems to be the most problematic of all the browsers with Flash technology. The only answer we get from Adobe is to Clear the Cache. We are however woking on some shortcuts because one of the Safari troubles is that the link to launch the .jam file for you (not for a guest) brings up a pop-up and this can be problematic depending on your browser settings. Of course you can always use Firefox... and we are working ways around the Safari/Flash limitations. David |

David, Site reliability is definitely my #1 concern right now. I've started a new thread to discuss that problem. The Safari issue is probably right up at #2, because all of my agency creative clients run Macs with Safari. I don't think it's a pop-up issue, because when I click on the link to launch a project, a window pops up just fine ... But then Safari gives me a "loading" indication, and the window stays blank. I click "reload," and the same thing happens. Blank window. The video length issue is annoying, but I'm confident that your programmers will figure it out. If you'd like to look at my specific files (the one I uploaded, and the one it got converted into), they're in my MuseWorx folder, and you're welcome to take a look. |

Just got off the phone with a client who I'm testing the Jam with and I've got a couple of their comments here: 1) Overall, they very much liked it 2) It'd be nice if there were a way to leave little anchors or visual cues for the location of 'comments' when they're not visible; ie: They'd like to be able to click an anchor onscreen to have the comment pop up. 3) It'd be nice to control the size of the pencil tool 4) Eraser tool is mis-leading it completely erases everything — I'm not sure what they were drawing there, but it sounded like they'd lost an elaborate pencil-mark-up.... I do agree though, maybe add a 'cancel all pencil marks' button in addition to a common eraser? 5) Client got confused when they were 'done' — They were looking for a way to 'save' the session or terminate the app. I think that they were scared of just closing the window and losing changes. On another note, I agree completely with Alex Fox — Safari compatibility is paramount. While many clients are on IE6 or 7 (and this is certainly true of my clients) the agency I work with is 100% mac. I use Safari on my system instead of FireFox because frankly I like it better. One of the issues that we'd been having with Safari was that when clicking the MuseWorx button a blank window would launch but nothing else. After closing and re-clicking the button MuseWorx would launch normally. Seems to be nicely resolved now. Looking good! We'll continue testing and experimenting with MuseWorx as much as possible. |
