Is there a way to disable all picture comments in general? I think Flicker
has an option where you can disable people from commenting on your work.
For me personally I am interested in this site mainly from the business
point of view. I think the MuseWorx section has a lot of potential. I
find that having a list of random comments associated to the portfolio
images gives it a bit of an amateurish feel. Personally I would not
want clients to read random comments. I of course understand that for
some people the social interaction is important so it would be nice to have an option.

Excellent point. I support having this option. On the subject of comments, it seems like a lot of work to see these comments. It might be nice if a user were able to access their comments without having to click on each image to see 1) if a comment was left; 2) what the comment was. Some sites have a system where one is sent an email if a new comment is left with a link to that comment. That could make things easier on the portfolio holder, in my view. |

Allan, We can allow notification of comments. The first suggestions were that this would be a little overwhelming...especially when we open up the site...and that not too many people would want notification just due to the volume. Now, that saiid, you are notified when you get comments on jam files. And, take a look at the Project Comments section in Museworx...a great way to make sure you do not miss any of the private comments. David |

David, From what I can gather, the Project Comments section in Museworx shows me comments on projects, not portfolio images. I assume that's what you mean. Otherwise, I may be missing something. Makes sense about the volume issue. A clickable comments link (like the "views" link) in the Museworx file management screen might be worth considering. Thanks. |

| I'm with Allan — It would be really cool if there were a way to view all comments and sort by portfolio item, comment, poster, etc, just like in museworx project comments. |

I think it would be nice if people could make general comments on your profile page, something like Createmagazine.com does. I like hereing from people in that manner and they can make a general statement without haveing to comment only on a specific piece. Pete [script removed] |

I agree with Diana....regarding the Public Portfolio I wish there was an allow/block comments feature....or no comments at all.. I wonder, why some sites allow comments? I hate this feature.... is this a SEO thing? Not everyone will benefit from it...What if someone writes something bad about your work? I had seen on other sites that allow quick comments, with not so nice comments about a work LOL It is not something you can delete LOL so that's my opinion.... Monica |

My concern with users being able to delete comments is that if a past client or peer has some truthful, and tactful, criticism or comments about a potential user, it that it's too easy for said user to just censor anything negative — truthful or otherwise. Obviously if people are posting libellous comments for no reason that's a different story but simply being able to delete comments at only a user's discretion seem a little like being able to edit the past.... or maybe it's just me. Thoughts?? |

absolute design... You got a point.... I guess some designers like comments, others don't...It is a matter of preferences... I would prefer if there was an option to accept or deny comments... some sort of moderation? just like we see on blogs.... But, if there is no option like that, I will still use Jamuse Monica |

I always appreciate constructive critcism. I know that on createmagazine.com you can delete comments if you like. After all aren't they subjective anyhow. Depends on what you like or don't or what your are looking for. Pete

I wasn't talking about a disable option for "general user" comments, I
meant "image" comments...... First off, they are subjective. What one
person finds amazing someone else may find not. I see no purpose in
image comments. Personally if someone has a real comment/critique, good
or bad, then I would like to get a message about this. A lot of people
simply post "great work" comments for their own networking and exposure
purposes....
I should point out I'm not saying get rid of it, I was simply
suggesting having the option to disable the image comments if one would prefer.
I do see some purpose in a user comment area, if it was strictly for
people to comment on the artist professionalism. This can be helpful.
Although having negative posts could also be damaging. I know, it would
be nice if you would know something negative about a person if there
was something but if you don't have all the facts as to what led up to
the negative incidence you may be creating a real mess. The internet lends itself to all kinds of crazy interpretations. |

I see what you are saying and I agree you should be able to delete or turn them off at your discression. I think that is spelled wrong. Wish they had a spell check here....... Anyway it is all up for discussion. Will be interesting to see what they do.

It sounds like there are two different subjects being discussed here and both would, in my opinion, be very good and helpful to have and that is: 1. Allowing the user to turn on or off their options when it comes to comments about your artwork from a general public. I think that yes the user should be able to opt for a) whether they would like to receive comments and b) whether they would like to publically display their comments. 2. Allowing the patrons or consumers of the artist to comment on their professional interactions with that artist. Etsy.com has a section called 'Feedback' that allows a customer to comment on the transaction they had with the artist that they bought from. You can also rate the level of service received. It also works conversly where you can comment on your interaction with a customer (ie 'nice customer, received quick payment). Both of these options could become very important pieces of info when searching for feedback or constructive criticism on artwork and/or when researching agencies to work for or for employers looking for talent. |
