I know that the mission for Jamuse is to bring Artist in all fields
togther. But I notice that there is something that can hurt the artist
and myself greatly if it is overlooked.
Here is my example: A portfolio Peice.
Now
this is a poject that I completed for the client that I am working for
at the moment. I love the fact that a potential client other then the
one I am working for can see a larger image of my work without relying
on the default size in the Portfolio. I only now noticed the Related Work field.
I'm all for promoting and giving my support to the community. But if, like I'm currently doing,
I am using Jamuse to promote my skills while I redesign my website. I
want clients to see my work not someone elses work in a Related Work
field. This has only the potential to hurt my efforts in seeking a
good company for employment and or other freelance opportunities.
What is the "Search" for then if there is a Related Work
field underneath your work. I don't want a potential client to
overlook me cause a peice from someone else portfolio caught their
attention. This is something that should be reserved for the free user.
Don't misinterpret this. I know that as Board Members,
once the site goes public we're told that we will get full access to
Jamuse services as though we were paying for it. That is a wonderful
gift from the Big Dogs that brought Jamuse to us in the first place,
and have invited us to be Site Advisory Board Members.
The free user should be force to deal with having the Related Work field. I hope that for the users that decides to pay for service once the site goes public. That the Related Work field will shocase more of their work and no one else.
The Related Work
field is something I don't like to much. It can only do more harm then
good. If a client want to seek someone else to work with other then
me. I would rather have them go to the Search at the homepage and look
for another professional. There should also be as Advance Search button next to the main Search field that goes to the Find an Expert page found under the Community listing
This may have seem like a good idea at the time. But if Jamuse is going to be a hit with professional Artist. The Related Work field is either for the artist who's work is above it. Or it should be removed altogether. I'm all for competition but the Related Work field is just plain suicide
for me and my efforts. There is always going to be someone who can
one-up you in the field. That's why you never stop learning. But I
don't want a potential client to see or know that.
This is just what I think. Anyone else care to take a stab at this. |
