I know it's up on the discussion already but CONTESTS are really gravitational to designers and artists looking to use a new tool draw new clients and attention. The chance of landing a larger job than the community clients I come up on would great enough to keep my actively utilizing and suggesting your service to others. I like the navigation of the site but I feel like scroll portfolio, yet aesthetically pleasing, is a bit useless. especially since I couldn't find a place to choose which pieces that I wanted to feature in it. I'd like to be able to arrange my portfolio myself. I think it's alphabetical now. Over all I would just like to be reassured that my work can be seen here and I can be contacted no problem. The last thing I want to do is have another site to check in the morning during my hours of sitting around doing nothing. LOL! |

This is probably obvious, but a direct call/e-mail/announcement/press release should be sent to alert all of the artists' professional groups, Graphic Artist Guild, Freelancers Union, AIGA, etc. For example, the Graphic Artist Guild member has a weekly newsletter that goes out via e-mail as well as a paper one that is mailed nationally bi-monthly. Ads in either media would reach many artists.
Possibly offering a membership discount to jamuse.com for artists who are already members of the professional organizations would also attract more attention.
You could also do a gmail-like promotion at first. Let Advisory Board members invite 2-3 colleagues.
I'll send more ideas if I think of them.

| Send a jamuse jingle that Bulldog Radio Spots will
create. The jamuse jingle is sent to your gigantic
weblist of brand new prospects across the world.
The jingle will entice the prospects to check out
jamuse in a fun, witty, simple, musical way.
We are all busy, so this jingle needs to stress to
simple, good service of jamuse fast.

Wow....great thread. Let's get this one fired up. A lot of buzz around us and a great opportunity for a viral campaign, let’s use it. We have an electronic board in Times Square (NY). What about a one line teaser that would drive curiosity? |

| I checkout the Jamuse on Apple Iphone, everything is working great, but adobe still haven not develop a flash player for the Iphone, so most of our interesting feature does not work. If we could be the first to get adobe to developed flash player for Iphone, the whole creative community, would expand dramatically. It will also give great publicity to your creative talented community. |

Another great idea is to design a creative talent magazine of artworks for jamuse, so members can show their talents to the public. Also adding contest on the magazine would be a wonderful thing to have to get people involve.

| I'll throw my two cents in for spreading the word... initiate some blog entries on various sites like Squidoo, Gooruze, Facebook, etc to generate some buzz. There are a lot of blog-style sites out there completely dedicated to the creative industry which could be utilized to generate some word-of-mouth. |

I think jamuse is already on the right path by allowing the right of use of the logo on members websites. That's a great pointer already. The perks for doing so are also a great motivator. Opening that up for new members after the launch in some fashion will only help build awareness as well as numbers for the community as a whole. Any thoughts to creating animated banners, etc.? A viral campaign could be very cool but it would really have to tease to start and generate a lot of buzz before it pays off. When is the official launch? Anyone see the trailer for "1-18-08" now "Project Cloverfield"? If that works that'll really set a new standard. So far, it's working on me. Bottom line, we need to create a new reality. A reality which transcends what was and launches us in to what we have become. jamusers. What sets jamuse apart? What makes the user and client experience different? What drives the passion and the vision? Can we play up the aspect of collaboration in some way? The creative world coming together... Just thinking out loud. Mike |

Just wanted to add... Why not utilize the web the way the web is evolving? Why not create a campaign that includes actual video? The world will literally change once this site launches. It's a paradigm shift where the power of creativity increases exponentially based upon the creative brain trust of the jamuse community. Jamuse, where your muse worx for you. Mike |

| I would love to help, I used to be head of public relations for a mac based support site, I also love tutoring and helping others. someone mentioned helping people that were still in school, I personally don't think that that would be very useful since most students are already so busy and should be able to find clients for themselves, it's part of the process. I however think the site could benefit from an educational center, where people could post tutorials and such for other designers, I know that I have written many tutorials on various things, I'm a certified expert in several things, like mac os x tiger, and a few adobe apps. Basically, this site has amazing potential and I am happy to help any way that I can. |

I have two simple, but very important questions which would need to be answered before any marketing ideas are bandied about: 1) What is Jamuse supposed to be? (as A potential member, I am not sure. Right now it seems like it is a place for artists to post their work. If this is supposed to be an all-encompassing site for creative professionals, you need a better understanding of the needs of the advertising and design creative. This site does not meet those at all right now.) 2) What makes Jamuse different than all the other sites out there where creatives can post their work? (This needs to be compelling enough to provide me a reason to use Jamuse over, say, Creative Hotlist. With out that, Jamuse will simply be another street post, in a different neighborhood where I can tape my "Will Clean Your House" flyer hoping someone will see it and call me.) --Jeff |

| If you've got the reader board in Times square, good times. But the message is going to have to be as short as a person's attention span. "Do you Jamuse?" Or
'Think beautifully, art globally. JAMUSE.COM
The Infinity car ads of the early 90's come to mind. A hay field in fall, and the words Infinity Q45 in the corner of a full page glossy ad still sticks in my head. Because the car wasn't shown. While that wouldn't transfer onto a reader board, the image you can invoke in the intended audience by using words like beauty could be a step in the right direction.
As for contests and prizes sure for the artists, who wouldn't want a new Adobe C3 Suite? Sites like illustrator world and renderosity do them once a month or so.

Allan's idea is excellent. I work in a smaller creative market (D.C/MD)
and there are many small companies, especially non-profit that just
don't know where to go to get good creative they can afford. Involving
Jamuse and its members would definitely spread news about the site and
creative a sense of community here. It would give a lot of creatives just starting out in their industry a chance to get some exposure that I would have loved just starting out.
Maybe even do something similar to the Katrina poster project, and not wait for an event to happen, contact and organization and involve members in creating materials to sell to benefit the org, maybe not limited to posters, but also t-shirts. Maybe have a self-promotion contest for Jamuse.

I believe that the idea of Regional Networking/Advertising is an excellent way to go. Here in my area, there is already a small group of colleagues working together locally to network each other's talents and skills to better the overall conditions for everyone. Also, it allows us to help each other keep afloat and competitive in the market. I also like the idea of a magazine for creative professionals - a great way to increase exposure and share knowledge. Keep me informed of possible positions and how I can help. |

All – I appreciate the offer to help and will take you up on it. A lot of passion I’m reading between the lines. Karin, Christopher, Vincent, Mike, Lam, Coby and many others….Thank you. So…here’s an idea. What about creating a regional networking committee? The mission of this committee will be to review networking opportunities (online sites, magazines…), get to know each other better and share ideas as a group. As long as we keep it fun we will be productive. |

The committee should have each of there regions defined. From there each region should have an individual or individuals in charge of the research with a sub committee. An individual regional committee should have daily meetings and goals for the week. Plus have each week start and end with a meeting with all the regional committees. Daily Meetings can be done through an instant message chat system, an irc chat, but in the end each meeting needs to be able to be documented. Also, the meeting can go throughout the day shooting links to each other. Weekly Regional meetings as a whole can start with a weekly progress report that can be done through a blog. Followed by a meeting that occurs with all regional committee members through a chat system to throw ideas around. This format is loose but still structured. |

| I would love to help or participate in any way possible. Here is an idea: Over the past few years, I have been part of 2 groups relating to and discussing design. I think localized jamuser groups for various states or cities is a good idea, heck, why not every city? The first group was the SAPP(San ANtonio Production Professionals), we met once a month at various locations, usually chosen by the head of the group, we would discuss everything from tends to tools and it was great! another one was via meetup.com, it was the San Antonio Graphic design meetup group(recently ended), we met once a month, often at various locations, and sometimes had barbecues or went out to eat afterward, the focus was tools, trends, techniques and so on, also a wonderful experience, meetup.com charges fees, so each member paid $3 at each meeting. the point is that we could do something like that, exposure, and local collaboration, I know I've contacted a few members here in hopes of collaborating on projects n the near future, such a group would make it easier and we could all learn more. I remember that at one meetup we went over building your own external hard drive. It could be great. Anyway, let me know if I can help. :) |
