I must say, I finally got around to really looking through JaMuse and I am very excited about this site. The features exceed those of other sites and seems very user friendly. There are an awful lot of posts on the discussion board (which is a good thing) so I am not sure if what I mention has already been said but I figured I would throw my thoughts out there: I read in one post that people aren't taking time to learn about all of the features of JaMuse. I think that could be helped by having blurbs that explain each page, right on the page. For example: the concept of client killed art is a unique and fun section. However it took looking through the FAQs to figure out exactly what it was. I think a description of what it is at the top of the Client Killed page would save a step and capture interest quicker. Another small thing that I noticed today was that I have my website address listed in my account settings, and when I went to upload my portfolio with the portfolio wizard, it asked for my website again. So I added it and then in my profile view it listed my website address twice. One right under the other. Not a big deal, just seemed weird to repeat the process in 2 places. Unless you use it to your advantage to link straight to your portfolio Hope this is helpful! |

| How come in the "Find an expert (Advanced search)", it'll let me choose a country and state but not let me type in the name, keyword or city in those fields? Also when I view all the graphic artists in florida, I don't come up. |

At first, I was a little skeptical. Especially the way I was contacted via email. It seemed a little suspicious. But my curiosity got the better of me and now here I am. I'm still poking around, but this seems to be a well thought-out site. It's clean and easily navigatible.
I've come across posts mentioning meetings. When are these held and are they announced somehow? |

A great week, thanks for your feedback.
Based on the advisors comments, a series of new updates are being made now. We have had two site advisory board meetings to date. All of our meetings are held via conference call. Our next meeting will be held in December/January, we will notify everyone soon.
Also jamuse China is in the works. We hope to open a new business market to our creative community very soon.
In preparation for our world-wide launch, we want to recognize you and give you something extra.
As a thank you for your support and efforts, we will increase your Museworx capacity to a full Gigabyte (1,000 mb).
To drive new business to your portfolio and to recognize you as an official Site Advisory Board member, you now have permission to use the Advisory Board logos on your web site and in your promotional material. To download your logos - go here.

Idea - we want to create the world's largest .jam file. This will be a public jam file (no login required) that we can pass around to anyone in the world - even family members - to generate thousands of comments. In theory, jam files can handle millions, let's test it. Does anyone have an image that they would be willing to share with thousands of people? Needs to be something family friendly. We could do multiple files if there are good choices out there. David |

I would be happy to provide an image, too. In addition to the few images I've posted in my test portfolio here on jamuse, I could contribute anything you see on my website: www.chickarazzi.com
Let me know if I can be of assistance...

| jamuse has real energy from the creative community.
I like how it features talented artists and it's ease
to move files.
It's simple to navigate from one area to the next.
Nice work. |

Hi David, That sounds like a really interesting idea. On the pragmatic side, it'll also be a test of the file protection side of the jam file. I'd be interested in participating. Allan |

| My first impressions of the Jamuse site was that it seemed like any other creative community site until I started playing with the museworx section which I feel is what really sets it aside from the others. I think the museworx section has lots of potential in online project collaboration. A few thoughts for future growth of the site is the possibility to make it more of a crossbreed web/system app that will allow users to "live link" a file from the users machine to the web app so they can update the file without re-uploading it and the client can view the changes instantaneously. Maybe also add a web conference feature to allow clients to view changes as they are made and make realtime feedback through texting, phone, or microphone.
My experience so far; I've uploaded a video file and sent it to myself and was pleased in the ability to add comments to specific frames in the video, that is going to be a huge help. One thing I would like to see changed (so far) is when looking at your projects you can see your comment list but I didn't see an easy way to view the project including the video file with the comments (just the comments themselves) without copying and pasting the project link into a new browser window/tab, unless I'm just missing something. Also I have a few issues with file compatibility. I've tried to upload several video files and was only successful with 1, the other files were both in the same H.264 format as the one that was successful and in other formats but they all had varying bit rates. Is there a link to supported video formats (I haven't had time to look over the whole site so I might have overlooked them if there is a link). My other issue is the lack of support for animated GIF files (when uploaded I only see the first frame of the GIF file). I do a lot of retouching and have found that it's more dramatic to show before and after examples using an animated GIF vs. a side by side example.
Thanks

I have been back and forth on the site a few times in the various sections. A few things here and there in the portfolio area don't work as smoothly as I would like. Adding my information and images seems to be more complicated than it needs to be.
Overall, I see a lot of potential for collaboration on the site, but I am hoping that the process of creating jam files, adding and altering images and information etc. becomes smoother.
I think the help section should be more developed and should be available to be accessed from any page. A link for a site map on every page would help as well.
Some less important things have still been non-working such as being able to add an avatar to my posts here in the discussion area. Not critical overall, but I am curious to know why something this simple still does not work. I did seek help from the online help staff, and they were not able to resolve this either.
EDIT: I tried to add the avatar again today using same method as before, and it is now working. |

Hello Robert, David, Bruce and Sean. Has there been any discussion of special features or membership levels for university students and/or creative faculty? Perhaps a membership option that allows students and faculty into the jamuse community, but does not include Museworx? I have emailed to Bruce some of my other thoughts about jamuse. The site is just fantastic! Thanks Michael Adams President and creative director Behind the Scenes Marketing Adjunct professor of art and design Montclair State University user name: Michael Adams |

| Wow, a wonderful place to explore and show off the creative talented artist. Community of gifted individuals and creative knowledge to help enlighten the new view in art. Jamuse is one of the best place to share ideas and let individual creative explore new views and bring new meanings to the artwork world of today and tomorrow. |

Wow. I'm late to a great party. It's obvious that a lot of kinks have been worked out because my user experience thus far has been exceptional. I'm all ready to start begging colleagues to take a look at jamuse. I've had one issue so far when I tried to use an updated avatar. I think it may be on my end with permissions on my Mac. However, I cannot upload a replacement jpeg. I'll try from a different Mac and see if I can resolve it. Also, one comment regarding professional categories. Would it be possible to add an additional category for someone like myself who is more a graphic designer? It's just a nit to pick. Thanks for the opportunity to get a glimpse inside what I see as the genesis of a truly great professional and community experience. Mike |

Humm, still having trouble. Here is a c/p of the message I get... An error has occurred and the avatar could not be set. The file failed to copy. System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'c:\web\jamuse\Portals\0\NTForums_Avatars\Avatar_4076.jpg' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.File.Delete(String path) at MRGI.JaMuse.Service.DataService.setFileAsAvatar(Int32 fileId, Int32 fileVersionId) so it doesn't look like it's on my end. Thanks! Mike |

Mike, I am not sure what the problem is, I tried uploading an new avatar image for myself and it works fine. Look at your file size too see if it is too large. Also what web browser are you using? I am using Firefox and it seems to work fine. Also after you uploaded, go to your my account setting and click on update. That might help too. Good luck! |

Thanks Lam! I actually found the files which did upload successfully to my Museworks space. I guess I need to figure out how to properly change out one version to another. Mike |

I too am late to the party and was a bit skeptical at first. But that is quickly changing and am looking forward to delving deeper into the sections and functionality within jamuse. We definitely have some images available for the "world's largest JAM'.. keep me posted. Joann
Just thought of one item... option to add some form of watermark. I know it's posted on the internet as low-rez; but I'm so sick and tired of people just grabbing images and using them anywhere they please. As creatives, we should be able to protect our work.

I agree as well Jsondy. It's definitely a good way to protect everyone's work. I'm a bit late to the party as well. And as many of you, was a bit skeptical about the e-mail I had received. This is a great idea, and I'm looking forward to browsing the site further. |

My first impression is good. As others have said, still some kinks to work out, marketing questions, etc. My comments: 1. uploading does not retain IPTC data and insert into description and keyword fields. I spend enough time writing descriptions and adding keywords once not to do it again. This will be a stopper for me using this site if I have to re-type everything when I upload my photographs. 2. portfolio view should show description information so viewer can identify location and other pertinent data about the image without having to dig for it. 3. "Find an expert" did not return my portfolio with United States, Idaho, and photography selected 4. Searching "User categories: photography" returned illustrators, writers, designers, marketers, etc. |

I love the idea of the site. It is great for there to be an outlet for creative people that doesn't put a dent in your pocket to be a part of. The jam file is a really cool new file format. It is really nice to have a way to protect your work, yet get it out there. At first I was a little disappointed in the design of the site. It seemed very simple and plain for a creative place. But then I realized that it is probably better to have a clean look to emphasize the work/content on the site. So after thinking more about it, I think it works well overall. One thing I would suggest, when you list members, you might want to organize it more somehow. For instance, when you click on a category it could have a drop menu to organize the list by region, etc. You might not want to deal with people around the world or vice versa. Also, Maybe fit more on a page by just having the image, contact info, and tag line. Then the description info could be a rollover or click. It seems most are short descriptions anyway, and you don't need to have each persons bio listed initially. This would make viewing more artists at a time a little faster. I can only imagine how long it could take when this goes public. Thanks and keep up the good work. |
