Hi all,
I am not so sure if this is of any importance. When viewing the selected Portfolio, I noticed a rating system and a view counter. I find this feature a very helpful and useful to keep track of each individual work and helps showcase your portfolio. However, this views feature can be easily spam into many hit counters. For example, if you click on any of the selected portfolio work, and continuously refresh your webpage, the views counter will count the many hits of the page being refresh. Shouldn't it be counting the number of hits a person or a client viewed and not by the account holder spaming the views counter by refreshing the web page a numerous times? Correct me if I am wrong.
Regards,

I too noticed right away that the "View Counter" in the portfolio section, counts your own hits too. I think first of all people enjoy seeing view hits and it can also be helpful because it can show you which images are most popular by viewers. Or I should say spark the best first impression. This feature in my opinion is useless if it counts your own hits. |

I agree completely. Another bug I've spotted: I think the option available to see who is viewing is good, except, if an image has many views, clicking to see who is viewing always gives me an error message. |

| It is also very wrong that you can rate your work. This option must not exist. |

Hi Jessamy, To see who is viewing your images, click on any image from "My Files" in Museworx. A larger thumbnail with your description and keywords should show up on the lower part of your screen. On the right side you'll see Rating, Comments, Viewed, and Favorited. Viewed and Favorited will have green arrows next to them if anyone has either viewed or favorited that particular image (I'd like to see "Comments" do this, as well). You can then click on the live link and see who has been viewing -- except when an image has at least 72 views (at least on the Mac), then I see an error message and am unable to pull up the viewers list. The tech crew is busy working on this, I believe. If you'd like to return to the previous view, just click on the "Return" link. Hope that helps. |

Personally - while I like the "rate the work" feature - I feel that this is not a great place to do it.
Many stock sites do that and it does provide a good feedback effort - sometimes it also sways a client from seeing your work to it's full potential.
I think a rating button for the client on a project is very important - but for all of us to have that option for each others work may not be such a good thing.
Here's how I would do it - allow the rate your work buttons - but the rating should only be viewed by the artist who owns the peice.
High rated items could be placed on a page to view - but the actual ratings and comments should remain private only to the artist who owns it. That way - we don't descriminate or leave clients with a bad taste in thier mouth when trying to find work they can use on a project.
My experience with this feature has left me with bad feelings when someone rates work badly or leaves a bad comment.
Everyone should be able to take critisism - but privately is more professional.

| I like the comment aspect but the rating seems pointless...reminds me of grade school. Plus, what's the difference between 2 or 3 stars???Also would like to see the page counter to not count myself when looking at my own profile. Flickr has a great engine that works perfectly, with graphics for individual images and favorite images. Weekly page count would be interesting too. |

| I didn't know where to post this but... I'll try here. I agree that the view counter should not count your own views and the rating system could be tweaked, but has anyone said anything about making a forward / back button to make viewing each portfolio piece easier instead of having to use the browser's buttons way up in the corner. They have this feature on the slide show but not when viewing individually. |

| I agree, perhaps an ip address based counter would be best, so that each ip address is counted only once, which will still be an issue with dynamic ip addresses, but it would help to cap the view count. I think that we internally do not need to have a rating, the comments are a good idea though, internally, we have the colleague focus group where you can ask people to rate your work. At the very least, one should be unable to edit their work's rating or view count. I feel somewhat bad now, I think the only portfolio views or image views I've had are from me. :( |

I noticed this also and that's a problem. I don't want my views counted.

| though not related to the portfolio, but museworx in general, the number of views is off a lot in the reports section, I mentioned it to Bruce, he never replied, but for example, a certain piece of work has had 9 total views ever by all users in the view by file option, but then in the section that shows view by users, the member above me betzhb is shown to have viewed the same file 52 times, something is wrong there, if that were the case, the total views would of course be above 9 and 52. the number of views by location are also off for some files, and the view by site to see from where a link was clicked to get to my profile, it always says jamuse.com, but I know some were from my sample portfolio website. |

| Views were not tracked prior to a certain date last summer when Analytics was released. It is certainly possible that many views were counted prior to the release. |
