Hey all. The main focus of our staff at jamuse is to listen to your greatest frustrations and to find ways of overcoming the things the waste your time through better technology automation.

We've released a new area to introduce you to jamuse's tools that help you share files and the concept of .jam files - which is a web 2.0 interactive version of your creative work. Check it out on the front page or go to the following link.

Check it out -
http://www.jamuse.com/Learntojam/tabid/78/Default.aspx

And of course, as advisors, we value your input.

Hello David,

Using Mac, latest Safari and Firefox. From Museworx, I can successfully "Launch Project" in Firefox but not Safari.

So far, WOW.

I like the clean interface. After a little poking around, I finally found my way to MUSEWORX and pretty
much dove right into uploading and adding descriptions to my portfolio pieces.

One bit that might be a glitch or something I'm not doing correctly, but the first field where I'm able to enter
a description for the file: I finish typing, hit enter and each time a warning box popped up stating
that I might not be able to enter info while file was updating. I click "OK" and all of the information I typed
was gone. I retype everything, hit enter and this time, it took.

My work-around for this was just to highlight the default text in the box for each image I moved to, hit enter
and while I still got the error message, I didn't lose anything and just proceeded to enter the description, which
when I hit enter the second time, would upload properly.

Again, I may be doing something wrong, (let me know), but that's the only technical "bump" I've experienced so far.
I love the "Flip Thru" mode of presentation.

So far, navigating is a breeze. Again, the uncluttered interface is a joy of visual simplicity. I don't feel like anything
is bogged down by having a "load" time. The Help topics are pretty clear and concise and after two clicks and
reading the answers, I was able to navigate right over to MUSEWORX and jumped right in.

This is just purely my opinion, but I really hate "Emoticons" I think they "cheapen" Jamuse and sort of drags it to the level of Myspace or AOL. I realize that there are those who think emoticons are nifty, but maybe they could be
hidden under a user button and not displayed, (the emoticons, not fellow Jamuse members).

As unique as Jamuse is, if emoticons are the order of the day, then perhaps they could be of a custom design, proprietary to Jamuse.

I love the idea of the site: one portal for client communication and portfolio presentation. But the interface seems very labor-intensive. For example:

1) Why doesn't the information from my main profile just port over to the forums profile? I created a profile for myself that seems to work in the body of the site, but once I entered the forums, I had to type out the same information into a new "my profile" box.

2) I've uploaded work to the Museworx, created a project, and added my files to it ... No problem. But I've clicked on everything I can think of, and can't figure out how to add the work to the "My Portfolio" section. Other people have done it, so I know it's possible, but it certainly isn't intuitive!

3) I get the feeling that the interface for the site is a little bit "form over function." I'd rather see an easy-to-use, traditional navigation bar that is consistent throughout the entire site, rather than be required to familiarize myself with a different set of (somewhat cryptic) links and buttons on each part of the site.

Overall, it seems like a great start ... But to get people in the door, you're going to have to make the site interface more intuitive. That means limiting the number of clicks that it takes to get from Point A to Point B, and that may well mean adding "clutter" to the navigation bar.

Foxcom,

Welcome to the site and thanks for the comments.

First of all I look forward to seeing your work. Here's a quick start guide that will help you get you things public:
http://www.jamuse.com/images/Jamuse%20Quick%20Start_092607.pdf

2) In Museworx, you need to place your work in the showroom and in your portfolio. The simpliest way is explained in the doc...Select your image in Museworx - at the bottom the image will show with several options, the left most option on the bottom is edit. I think you can also double click the image in the list.

You will see the "Include in the community" and "include in my portfolio" options.

1) The profile option in Discussions is not needed and will be hidden...sorry for the inconvenience. There are not two profiles.

3) Makes sense on the menu.

Thanks again. I'll look for your stuff... :-)

David,

You're up late!

As long as you're getting rid of the forum profile feature anyway, please allow the avatars to port over. I uploaded a normal-sized photo to my main profile, and your site immediately sized it properly. However, the forum profile asked me for a 150x150 picture, which I don't have at 1 a.m., on a Saturday, on my wife's computer. : )

Kudos to you for the Live Help feature ... Tom walked me through the portfolio upload process very politely. Thanks also for the link to the help file. As soon as I looked at it, I realized that I had received this file when I registered with the site ... Unfortunately, I hadn't read through the whole thing at the time ... My fault! However, since I am probably not alone in this oversight (nothing is idiot-proof, right?), I suggest adding a prominent link to the Quick Start file on the Knowledgebase page. Also, at present, searching for "portfolio" in the Knowledgebase does not pull up instructions, so that might be an easy fix as well.

Overall, I think I realized what your site is missing ... Not really more comprehensive navigation tools as much as on-screen prompts. A simple line or two of contextual instructions (e.g. "Click on any file in the list below, for more options.") would go a long way towards making the site more user-friendly.

One other suggestion: After reading your thoughtful response to my post, I tried to click on your avatar, thinking that it would jump directly to your profile. It didn't. But it should. : )

Oops, I almost forgot ... I'd love to be able to adjust the order in which my portfolio items appear (the "top four" that appear on my profile homepage particularly).

Thanks for being so open to (hopefully) constructive criticism!

Like the new Jam file Quick Tour movie, clear and easy to follow.
I was wondering whether some people might find it useful to be able to add the contact details of a representative (e.g. agent or gallery) as well as personal contact details to profiles.

Foxcom,

Good suggestions. Thanks again. Let me know when some of your commercials are ready to view. We are very active in releasing new help. The advisory board has been very helpful in providing new adjustments to the practical application of the development. This will make the help systems even better. Thanks for letting me know about Tom. It's good to see our support team at work.

This will be another busy week listening and responding to needs. Looking forward to more inpput.

Hello David.

Here I am again... But I was trying to see some work of my colleagues, but I quit. Since the 1st I think the site takes to much time to download, comparing for example with Portfolios.com.

Bye and have a nice week.

P.S. A Map Site link will be good. And a link for this Forum in the homepage also.

Hello Rob,
Just had a go in Projects everything seems fine (I'm on Mac OSX using Safari), although when all projects are in list mode in main screen it won't load when clicking on either Edit or Launch on a given project.

A couple of ideas:
- is it possible to receive auto-responder email notifications when a comment has been added to a Project.
- will it be possible to somehow download a complete Project file (comments, etc) to archive.

I love the interface for viewing the work. I really like being able to
chat, add notes, draw, etc. while on the phone or Internet with a client.
Great program.

In all honesty, though, I wasn't too crazy about all the email notifications. When my files weren't able to upload originally, I knew this right away due to
the error message. I thought that receiving an email as well was somewhat
unnecessary.

A few other thoughts:
*Customer support was timely in responding to my inquires.

* When adding keywords and project titles to my assets, it'd be nice if I
didn’t have to delete text before adding my own in the same space. Petty, I
know, but a small time saver.

* I like the default email the program sets up for sending a piece of work.
It's nice that I can customize the message myself or leave as is. Plus, when
the email is received, I like that it's just a link and not a large image to
bog down their email systems.

Thanks!

Hello All  - Glad to hear the feedback on the new .jam file collaborative tool.  Your feedback and comments are all very important.

You bet Hugh.  Anytime a client views your project and makes a comment, the system will automatically email you.  Keeps it simple and allows you to maximize your time.    Your idea of downloading comments is great.  Let’s make that happen.

Our first Site Advisory Board meeting is this Friday at 1:00 EST.  An email will be sent tomorrow with access info.  Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Hi David,

Thanks for the responses, and for asking about my work. I've got a portfolio full of photos and videos up now ... Is there a way to get in line for a "Featured Artist" slot, or is that a random selection, or is it a qualitative call made behind the scenes?

The Jam files work amazingly well, by the way. This technology is going to be HUGE.

Is there any way to batch edit my portfolio and/or project pictures without having to open each one individually?

Overall impression as far as design and finish is very good. Good looking site. The few flash-y bits are well executed. Nice.

I wonder if portfolio-browsing could somehow be improved — an easy way for potential/existing clients/buyers/etc to browse particular fields or categories may be helpful. I echo a previous poster's curiosity about what the final homepage will look like.

From our side things look slick and seem to work pretty well in terms of functionality and useability. At first I was a little lost with regards to the back-end admin section but after some clicking and a read-through of the PDF (I believe somebody already mentioned that some of the screengrabs don't match reality, or vice versa) the paradigm became clearer.

Good job so far!

Hello all. Wow, my first impression is that I have alot to explore. I feel like I am jumping on this advisory board bandwagon a little late, but I guess better late than never. I've seen the same person suggest a site map a couple of times, and think that is a good idea. I think "tutorials" on other things besides uploading would be very nice (though maybe I just missed these) such as "how do I get to be one of the cool kids with works featured on the main page?" etc, etc.

I have really only had the chance to explore this site for a good 20 minutes or so, so please forgive me if I have missed this, and it is up. I am VERY excited to be a part of this, and will be in and out much more often!

One thing that I noticed as far as ease in navigation is that there is not a "link menu" to other pages on the site from the page you may currently be on.  For example, from the Community page I then clicked to another page and then when I wanted to continue to explore more pages in the site I had to keep hitting my back button to get to the Community page with the Links menu on the right.

I think being able to move about more easily from page to page would keep people at the site longer.  I get frustrated with sites when I have to work so hard to move around.

Also, for new users I think that some instruction/information is necessary on the Home page.  Otherwise it is a bit overwhelming and confusing as to what the actual purpose is.  I don't have a background in commercial art, or design, and as a potential visitor I would be more interested if, when I get to the site, I were clear on what it is about.

Hey Guys,

Been a little while. Love the updates to the site. Still looking to be able to change out my top 4 under my profile main page. Also would still like to see the comments left for my images when I click on them from my portfolio page. Also, like other artists before me... Are you going to rotate the featured artists around? Randomly pick or what? Thanks.
