Is it possible to add Graphic Designer to list of professions?
That keyword combination is really important.
Thanks,
Mike |

Do other of you agree? See my other posts about having 20 categories vs. over 100.... David |

| I would definitely agree with that one... the term "graphic artist" is a little old school. I would vote for replacing it with "graphic designer" as a lot of the other categories (illustrator, digital artist, animator, etc.) will work for people who technically fall into the old graphic artist category. |

I'm all for using the title of "graphic designer" vs "graphic artist",
and agree the latter is an outdated description of the profession. The
word "designer" when used by itself, while understood by most everyone
in our own community, is a little ambiguous to the public because of
the many kinds of designers there are; architectural designers,
interior designers, clothing designers... I'm with Jon. Thank you.

| It seemed like it did revert back to Graphic Artist for awhile there yesterday when I checked a couple of times, but maybe it was during an upgrade or something... seems to be changed now to Designer. WooHoo! Thanks! |

Jon,
I just replied to your email. I thought it would be good for others to see.
If I can paraphrase your question, Jon its - How do I get noticed on jamuse?
We are putting together an article on this for the upcoming newsletter. We want people to find you. In preparation for the launch, now is the time to make sure you are ready -
Here's some things that will help:
1. Add descriptions and keywrds to you assets
2. Make sure your bio is attractive and accurate
3. A blog can help you show up on the blogs on the front page
4. Features artists are selected. They rotate for a week and then new artists are selected.
5. Showroom is a question of popularity and selection. Tough to promise being seen here with 200k assets.
6. Discussions - participating in discussions gets you noticed in the community and on Google.
7. Outside blogs and discussions also tie in your profile on jamuse and get picked up by search engines.
8. If you are an advisor, having the advisor logo and a link to your portfolio will help Google notice you. Essentially you are participating with us in our paid promotions and getting noticed yourself in the process.
9. Most discussed - this area is based on comments made on your work. Essentially the RFC area will help drive this. You can always make comments on your own...although this might be looked down on. :-)
We are working on many other ways sch as a Request for Comment area, A jobs board, A trade and For sale area, MVP program (see the recent post)....etc... all to give multiple ways to be found.
This is a great time to get it all in order prior to our launch next month.
I hope that helps.
David

| Thanks for the scoop David... that should be a big help to all of us looking to increase our visibility to potential clients and collaborators out there in jamuseland. I've added more keywords and descriptions to my files and will try some of your other suggestions as well!
